204 Players From This Country Have Played in the NHL!

Over the next few months, we're going to be posting country features on all of our attending countries for the 2020 CARHA Hockey World Cup in Richmond, British Columbia.

Up next - Finland!

Finland is in the conversation for the most hockey-crazy country in the world.

Yes they're only fifth in the world in registered hockey players, but they have a population of just 5.4 million people. This leaves them behind only Canada, the United States, Czech Republic, and Russia. Hockey is the most popular sport in Finland and they are also quite good!

Finland has medaled six times in the 16 Olympic Games they have participated in. Finland has also supplied the National Hockey League (NHL) with some top talent. There have been 204 Finnish born players who have played in the NHL since 1927, including Hockey Hall of Famers Teemu Selanne and Jari Kurri. We are excited to collide our Canadian hockey nation with Finland at the CARHA Hockey World Cup.
