Guess How Many Rinks Are in Slovenia?

We recently posted a story about Team Mamut and Team Jelen, two teams planning to travel nearly 9,000 km's to Richmond for the 2020 CARHA Hockey World Cup.

Since the posting of that story, Castle Dragons and Citroen Trobec have also joined the fray from Slovenia!

The thing about hockey in Slovenia that not a lot of people realize is the scarcity of ice rinks in the country.

Think about where you live - there's probably a handful of hockey rinks within realistic driving distance of you, maybe slightly more or less depending on the country.

In Slovenia, there is only seven rinks anywhere.

For reference, the following is a list of how many rinks are in other hockey countries.

This is a country that competes at a high level internationally, and that sends solid representation routinely for the CARHA Hockey World Cup.

Makes Team Mamut and Team Jelen's attendance even more impressive for Richmond, and when you see them out there in 2020, just know the sacrifices they mave have had to make along the way to get into hockey.
