Swiss Polar Bears are Coming Back for More!

The Swiss Polar Bears were founded less than 25 years ago and it didn't take them long to find their way to the CARHA Hockey World Cup. Now, there's no turning back!

We had the opportunity to ask some questions to Vic from the team, here's what he had to say!

  • When were the Swiss Polar Bears founded and what makes the team so special?

The Swiss Polar Bears were founded in 1995 by a couple of friends of mine, my little brother, and my dad. Practically all of the founders of that team still play, even my dad (76 years old now). He also plans to play in the next CARHA Hockey World Cup if possible!

  • When did you first attend the CARHA Hockey World Cup?

My dad attended for the first time in 2008, me and the other teammates in 2012. We were overwhelmed by the tournament!

  • Who is your favourite hockey team and some of your favourite players?

Of course I support teams where Swiss Hockey Players are playing. For example Roman Josi from the Nashville Predators is a good example for a skilled Swiss Ice Hockey Player!

  • How does hockey differ in Switzerland compared to Canada when you come for this event?

The icerinks are smaller in Canada than in in Switzerland, but that's okay - takes less time and energy to get to the other side!

  • What are you most looking forward to during the tournament in 2020?

The great atmosphere among the athletes from all of the different countries! And of course, we're try to win our first game during the official tournament! That's why we'll register in the 35+ category with different players. Last time most players were younger and it was challenging!

Be sure to try and meet the Swiss Polar Bears in 2020 if you have the opportunity - they're a fantastic group of guys!
