The Aces are the RAF's representative team. Made up of players from all the other teams with the RAFIHA, the Aces players earn caps for each game played against another military team. Once a player has represented the Aces three times they are awarded their RAF Colours and get to select their personal shirt Number.
We represent a hockey club "Salem" from Almaty, Kazakhstan. Salem in Kazakh means "Hi! Hello!". It is this name that our neighborhood team had in the 1976-77 season. It was beyond our wildest dreams in those distant days of the seventies that years later we would be able to compete in the World Hockey Championship! Championship is not the word for it! It will be in CANADA - the birthplace of hockey!
The Swiss Polar Bears are a very unique team based out of Steinmaur, Switzerland. They first attended the CARHA Hockey World Cup in 2008 as an oldtimers team managed by Swiss hockey legend Horst Wirgailis. In 2012 when they came back they had a very different look where Horst's son Vic had invited his friends to play on a younger team. Horst still plays, however he is 46 years older than the youngest player.
